About
Our hot tubs are made of high-quality wood and our barrel sauna's are made of Ayous wood. These wood types are selected for various reasons.
Wooden cladding on our hot tubs
Our hot tubs have high-quality wooden cladding. This type of wood is very durable and sustainable. Besides it is also weather resistant. If you want to maintain it well, we recommend it to add an oil layer every year.
Ayous wood for barrel sauna's
All our sauna’s are made of Ayous® wood. This is an exotic timber that is thermally-treated in order to obtain a high quality finish and durability.
The treatment process consists of drying, heating and cooling the timber in a controlled atmosphere. This limits shrinking and swelling and gives anadditional dimensional stability to the wood. It also prevents the wood to warp. Moist is taken out which results in a better insulation. Another advantage of this process is that the timber is provided with enhanced resistance to a range of microorganisms and insects, which makes it suited for exposure to the elements and outdoor use.
Our sauna wood is thicker (35 to 40 mm) than the wood that other suppliers use so that your sauna will stay warmer for a longer period of time. On top of that Ayous consists of an insulating property and will therefore warm up quickly and retains the heat from your sauna burner longer.
Thermo-Ayous achieves a 1–2 Class durability rating according to EU standards. On our sauna’s we provide a 20 years warranty on the Ayous timber. In order to keep your Ayous timber in the best condition, we recommend to paint the external of your sauna annually with a hybrid wood protector.
